Is YOUR ‘safety mask’ secure?
“Please make sure your safety mask is secure before assisting others.”
Sound familiar? Think about your health and the choices you make every day. How can you be anything to anyone or take care of others if you aren’t securing your own mask and taking care of yourself? YOU CAN’T!
You aren’t Superwoman/Superman. And if you try to be all things to all people, chances are you will neglect your own well-being. Secure your mask first by:
- Making time for exercise most days of the week. For Pete’s sake…don’t excuse it away! Please don’t use the ‘no time’ excuse. How much time will you have to take off due to illness because you failed to strengthen your immune system with good old fashioned exercise?
- Resist the convenience of a fast food lunch and heavily processed snacks by packing a ‘Feedbag’ (i.e. almonds, fruit, cheese stick, yogurt, whole grain crackers).
- Get to the doctor, dentist and your dietitian for a ‘tune-up’. These appointments aren’t just for children you know!
- Take time for YOU every day. Even if it’s just 10 minutes of peaceful meditation in the morning.
It’s not selfish. In fact, it’s probably the most loving and caring thing you can possibly do for your family. When you are healthy and well-balanced, THEY will be healthy and well-balanced. Period.
